গোপালগঞ্জে ঘর পাচ্ছে ৬১৯টি গৃহহীন পরিবার

GOPALGANJ, July 20, 2022 (BSS) - A total of 619 landless and homeless

families will get new houses as gift from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
under the third phase of the Ashrayan Project-2 in the district tomorrow.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will launch the distribution of the houses with
land ownership document and keys to the beneficiary families through a
videoconferencing from her Ganabhaban residence on July 21, 2022," Deputy
Commissioner (DC) Shahida Sultana said this at a press briefing here today.

"At the third phase of the Ashrayan Project-2, the government has raised the
cost and brought changes in design to make the houses more sustainable and
climate-resilient," she said, adding that now the landless and homeless
people will get better quality tin-shed semi-pucca houses on two decimals of

Main thrust of the initiative is to improve the standard of living, ensure
basic education, health care and skill development on income generating
activities of the beneficiary people.

A total of 2,643 houses have, so far, been handed over in the first, second
and third phases of the project, she continued.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rashedur Rahman, Additional Deputy
Commissioner (Revenue) Nazmun Nahar, Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner
(Land) Milan Saha were, among others, present at the press briefing.

Each of the semi-pucca houses with two bedrooms, one kitchen, one toilet,
common space and veranda are being built at a cost of Taka 2.59 lakh.
